it still remains

“A room filled with an endless long rubber thread. A maze, a route… Dried flowers from my grandmothers’ funeral and new life growing inside of me. A chair. A sense of belonging. A sense of the surrounding while I am looking outside those windows. They bring me into the world of the Other. Resentment. Remains. I miss my Grandmother…

In this work, Melanie Maria invites the spectator to enter, alone. To sit down and experience that what is to be experienced. The serenity and at the same this the sadness in the work takes you along the silence… while outside, behind the windows… the world goes on.

This work is awarded with the Jan Naaijkensprize 2020.
